Ticketing Information

1. Reservations begin at midnight 10 days in advance until all tickets are booked.
2. The Palace Museum ticketing system requires the use of real names and passport information.
3. Only one ticket per passport is allowed each day.
4. Please take your passport to the east service window at the Meridian Gate (Wu men) to collect your entry ticket.
5. If you need a receipt, please take your passport or ID to the east service window.

Cancellation Information

If you decide not to use your booked ticket, you may cancel the booking online before 20:00 on the selected day of visit. Bookings may not be canceled after 20:00.
If you would like to return your ticket after collecting the entry ticket, you may request a refund at the east service window at the Meridian Gate (Wu men).

Visiting Times

The Palace Museum is closed Mondays, except during national holidays.

Visiting Routes

Meridian Gate (Wu men): Entrance (not an exit), Visitors must enter via this gate.
Gate of Divine Prowess (Shenwu men): North Exit (not an entrance)
East Prosperity Gate (Donghua men): East Exit (not an entrance)

Visiting Regulations

Welcome to the Palace Museum!
The Palace Museum is located in the Forbidden City, which was formerly the imperial palace of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
In 1987, the historic complex was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Smoking is strictly forbidden within the Palace Museum. Please refrain from smoking and remind others to not smoke!
The Forbidden City is the world's largest extant complex of timber palatial structures and has suffered from multiple fires in the past. Each cigarette endangers this cultural heritage site.
Please respect the cultural heritage of the site and do your part in preserving historical works.
Please do not write, scratch, or otherwise leave graffiti or your name on buildings, trees, or any other surface. Such behavior will not increase your fame but will incur public scorn.
In order to ensure a pleasant visiting experience for you and others, please do not use flash or tripods when taking photos.
In order to abide by copyright and intellectual property agreements with other museums and institutions, please do not take pictures or record videos in galleries or shops that post signs prohibiting photography and videography. Please follow any additional instructions on signs or by staff.
Creating an enjoyable visiting experience requires everyone's cooperation!
Please do not bring pets to the Museum.
Please do not create obstacles for other visitors.
Please dress properly.
Please do not inhibit other visitors' view or cause damage.
In order to maintain a healthy environment, please do not spit.
Out of respect for the environment and the janitorial staff, please do not litter.
You are welcome to use all of the informational services and facilities at the Palace Museum!

The Palace Museum is a public space. In order to ensure a safe environment, please follow staff instructions to disperse densely packed crowds, maintain orderly viewing, and avoid crowding.
Before closing, please follow the instructions broadcast over the public address system and those given by staff to leave in a timely manner.

Please be wary of unsolicited offers by impromptu tour guides, hawkers, or advertisers. Beware of fraudulent offers and report any offenses.
